I was first introduced to Pilates while living in Yokohama, Japan with my husband and four children. I was so inspired by this form of exercise as I experienced firsthand how it reinvigorated and toned my body after having four children.
After our family then moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I decided to train to become an instructor so I could help others benefit from this ‘intelligent exercise’ program. I became a certified Stott Pilates instructor in 2007 and worked for 4 years at Pilatique, the first Stott Pilates licensing center in Malaysia. I truly enjoyed teaching Pilates in an international setting.
In 2011 our family decided it was time to ‘come home’, so we moved back to the U.S. after 20 years, and settled outside St. Louis. My love of Pilates led me to open Grow-Fit studio in May 2012.
For me, Pilates/fitness is more than exercise. It is a way of life. Movement is essential to life and Pilates is an effective tool which brings body awareness along with beneficial muscle toning and lengthening. After having four children, I did not want to believe that I could never be in good shape again. Pilates resonated so strongly with me because I not only started to feel better physically, but mentally I felt so empowered as I saw myself growing stronger. My body feels so balanced and tension-free.
